YouTube will no longer allow out vlogger Shane Dawson to make money from his three channels, which have 34 million subscribers between them, following controversy that includes blackface and much more, the BBC reports.

Dawson, 31, has apologized for his offensive videos, including clips in which he appears in blackface and uses racist slurs. Sharing a video last week called "Taking Accountability," he said: "I should lose everything. I have put so much hate on the internet."

The New York Times calls Dawson one of "the biggest stars" on YouTube, writing that he is one of "the most powerful and influential YouTubers for nearly 10 years" and noting he has earned the title of the "king of YouTube."

"He's been a regular on the platform since 2008 and is connected and friendly with many other top YouTubers," the Times writes, adding that he often collaborates with popular YouTuber and cosmetic CEO Jeffree Star, 34.

"Last year, he produced a docuseries on Mr. Star, which has nearly 150 million views; the two also released a makeup palette together. But offensive statements and videos that Mr. Star and Mr. Dawson posted in previous years are getting renewed attention," the newspaper writes.

Despite his success, Dawson has made controversial videos in the past, insulting people who have disabilities and making jokes about pedophilia and hypothetically murdering a woman.

One video in particular drew the attention of celebrity Willow Smith. The New York Times writes that in the clip, Dawson is seen "pretending to sexually gratify himself to a photo of Willow Smith, then 11 years old," and reports that the clip "resurfaced and began to get shared widely. Jaden and Jada Pinkett Smith spoke out against Mr. Dawson immediately."

"To Shane Dawson ... I'm done with the excuses," Pinkett Smith, Willow's mother and wife to Will Smith, tweeted.
