MKDA Raises $10,000 for Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Residence

New York, NY - Corporate interiors firm MKDA announced that it has raised $10,000 for musician Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Residence (TCR), a project of West End Intergenerational Residence that provides permanent housing and support services to formerly homeless LGBT youth.
The monies were raised during a silent photography auction held at fine arts consultancy Novo Arts, Inc. MKDA organized Inner Lights for the True Colors as an avenue for the contract design industry to harness its artistic talents to give back to the greater New York community.
Both amateur and professional photographers within New York's contract design industry submitted nearly 100 photographs representing the Inner Lights theme. 25 winning photographs were professionally framed and auctioned at the event.
"The bids on the artwork ranged from $200 all the way up to $1,000," said MKDA Creative Director Edin Rudic, who spearheaded the event. "Our generous sponsors and guests also made donations at the door and through an exciting raffle that featured a digital SLR camera valued at $1,000 and Vitra and DDC guest chairs."
Sponsors who generously donated their time and resources include event host Novo Arts, Benjamin Moore Paints, Johnsonite, Bentley Prince Street, GE Monogram, Humanscale, International Lights, John Gallin & Son, Wolf Gordon, Workspaces LLC, Amtico, Atlantic Group, Invista Antron, KI Walls and InterfaceFLOR.
True Colors Residence (TCR), a project of West End Intergenerational Residence, is New York's first permanent, supportive housing for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. TCR builds upon West End's history of pioneering new models to serve the most underserved and vulnerable New Yorkers.
Since its founding in 1989, West End has provided safe and supportive transitional and permanent housing together with comprehensive services that assist and empower homeless and formerly homeless youth, families, and older adults to live full and productive lives
