Gay Jokes Fly at James Franco's Roast

Comedy Central aired the very funny "Roast of James Franco" Monday night, which featured a plethora of well-crafted gay jokes towards the questionably gay James Franco.

For years, Franco has been the subject of gay rumors since he never shies away from playing gay characters. See: Harvey Milk's boyfriend in "Milk," Hart Crane in "The Broken Tower," Allen Ginsberg in "Howl," to name just a few. He's also the director of gay films like "Sal" and "Interior. Leather Bar."

Franco is coy when it comes to the rumors, only feeding the fire. He's said he likes playing gay characters because he believes they have more dimensions. "Or you know what, maybe I'm just gay," the Los Angeles Times reported in 2011.

All of the rumors and speculation came to a head at the roast, when Franco's friends, including Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Natasha Leggero, Andy Samberg, Jeff Ross and others busted out a hefty supply of gay jokes.

"To prepare for his role in '127 Hours,' he told me he spent five days with is arm inside the rock - but he goes as Dwayne Johnson now," Rogan joked at the ceremony.

The comedians didn't just stick to gay jokes, however. They also slammed the actor for the disastrous hosting job he and co-host Anne Hathaway did during the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011.

Even Franco got in on the Oscar-bashing, using it as a reference point for the roast: "This is truly my punishment for the Oscars,"

Gawker has aggregated all of the roast's gay jokes into one hilarious five-minute clip, which you can check out here.
