Olympic Champion Greg Louganis Ties the Knot

Congrats to Greg Louganis, who married his partner Johnny Chaillot in California last Saturday, People magazine reports.

The Olympic diver married Chaillot, a 52-year-old paralegal, in Malibu in front of 160 guests, including Chaillot's four sisters and Louganis' Olympic diving coach Ron O'Brien. In lieu of gifts, the couple asked friends and family to donate to the Human Rights Campaign and Mending Kids International.

"It was amazing because I have so many people from all facets of my life here tonight and they are all here and celebrating it is all wonderful," Louganis, 53, told People after the ceremony. "I already feel different. The ceremony was so reflective and representative of who we are."

People reports Louganis and Chaillot started dating in 2012 after meeting on the dating website Match.com. A year later they were engaged.

"It has been an incredible journey," Louganis said. "I feel like we've been through a lifetime in a very short time."

As the Huffington Post Reports, the Olympic champion talked about the wedding on Twitter.

"Last night was magical! I am so blessed! Johnny Chaillot walked down the aisle by his sisters, and me by my coach...," he wrote.

"Wednesday night I talked to Greg and I said, 'When you look at me on Saturday I want you to know this is what I think about' and he told me what he is going to be thinking when he looks at me," Chaillot said. "So it is our little secret moment - our time."

Louganis tested positive for HIV in 1988 and caused some controversy when he injured himself during the Seoul Olympics and bled in the pool. The athlete also came out as gay in 1995 when he was a guest on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
