From 'Vegas' to New York: Scout Durwood Plays the Dixon HOT!

Scout Durwood, the chanteuse behind the character Lady Scoutington, brings her cabaret-style Vegas revue "Woman of Whimsy: This Would Kill in Vegas" to the Dixon Place HOT Fest on July 10.

"The show is like a Vegas spectacular set in a crappy comedy club," Durwood told EDGE. "It's one part vunderbar, one part two-drink minimum. For me, it's where my cabaret career and my comedy career collide, which is an overwhelmingly fun intersection to explore. It is inspired by the notion that anything is possible and the reality that that's only true if you have the budget for it."

The Los Angeles-based singer returns for one night only with her signature ukulele and a pocket full of dreams. Her show features comedy, music, and newly imagined interpretations of pop culture classics. Her razzle-dazzle smoky voice leaves no rhinestone unturned as she examines what it means to live, love and dream in a world concerned only with fame.

Durwood is an acclaimed chanteuse and comedienne who was recently named one of The Huffington Post's "20 Burlesque Stars to Know," as well as Funny Not Slutty's "10 Women Who Rock Comedy" and Stand Up Talk's "Five Awesome Women's Musical Comedy Acts."

She is the author of three solo shows, including the one woman musical, "Hi, How Can I Help You?," which debuted at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was developed thanks to a grant from Brooklyn Arts Exchange. She is a Moth Story Slam Champion whose work has been featured on MTV, "The Howard Stern Show" and "The Mindy Project."

Durwood will perform as part of the 23rd Annual HOT! Fest, the NYC Celebration of Queer Culture. The world's longest-running LGBTQ Performance Festival, HOT! offers theater, music, dance, puppetry, performance art and homoeroticism for the whole family. HOT! is the pioneering celebration of queer performance and culture, and the oldest annual festival of its kind in the world, serving as the model for other queer festivals across the globe and a performance destination for emerging talent in the LGBTQ community.
