Kansas City native KC Sunshine, age 34, is a multifaceted talent who has captivated audiences across the nation. Living with his husband, KC is not only a dedicated teacher and community activist but also a dynamic performer known as "The Midwest Michael Jackson." His electrifying performances as "The King of Pop" have earned him spots on America's Got Talent three times, showcasing his exceptional dancing skills honed over 30 years.
KC's dance repertoire is vast, encompassing Mexican Folklore, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and more. His versatility extends beyond dancing; he has made his mark as a model and actor, appearing in national commercials, ads, and on fashion runways. Additionally, KC has been a prominent figure in drag and male pageantry since the age of 18, competing for national titles and securing numerous accolades, including Mr. Gay America 2022.
His journey in pageantry began with the title of Duke of KC Pride Youth Royalty Court in 2008. Over the years, he has won titles such as Mr. KC Gay Pride 2011, Mr. Iowa Capital City USofA 2018, and Mr. Gay Missouri America 2021. After his initial success, KC returned to direct the Kansas City Pride pageant for three years, pioneering the first LGBTQ+ youth pageantry system in the country. This initiative provided leadership training and performance opportunities to LGBTQ+ youth in the Kansas City metro area.
KC Sunshine is a familiar face at Missie B's in Kansas City, where he hosts the weekly "Sunshine Saturdays," featuring a diverse cast of local talent. When not dazzling on stage, he is dedicated to his role as an elementary school teacher in Kansas City public schools. His commitment to LGBTQ+ youth extends to his co-directorship of The Coterie Theater's Project Pride, an annual theater production focused on LGBTQ+ youth experiences.
