Would Debra Messing Do More 'Will & Grace?' Yes - But Only If...

Debra Messing says she would be willing to sign up for more "Will & Grace" after the popular sitcom came back for an additional three seasons following its initial eight-year run... but only if certain conditions were met.

Messing was a guest on "CBS Mornings," where she was asked about the show, which originally ran from 1998 - 2006. "Will & Grace" came back for additional seasons in 2017, running through 2020.

"The show revolved around best friends Will (Eric McCormack), a lawyer who identified as gay, and Grace (Messing), an interior designer who identified as straight," Deadline recounted in a writeup on Messing's "CBS Mornings" appearance.

The actor said she'd return for more, but not for a good long while.

"People ask all the time, 'Would you come back again?'" Messing told the talk show's hosts. "And I feel like the only thing that could possibly work is if in 20, 30 years, we do a 'Golden Girls' where they're all living in Boca, in caftans," Messing explained, referring to Boca Ratón, Florida. "But anything before that, I think, you know, we've told the story."

As it happens, "Will & Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick have a new sitcom, "Mid-Century Modern," that's about to debut on Hulu. It that takes the "Golden Girls" approach with a cast featuring Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham. The three actors play a trio of gay men living together in Palm Springs. The show also stars the late TV sitcom and Broadway legend Linda Lavin, who tragically passed away from lung cancer midway through the filming of the show's 10-episode freshman season. Lavin plays Sybil, the mother of Lane's character, Bunny.
