The Queen of Pop says she and Elton John have "buried the hatchet" after years of feuding - and not only that, a collaboration between the two legends might be in the works! After years of bad blood, a new era has dawned, and all it took was a visit behind the scenes of "Saturday Night Live."
In an April 8 Instagram post, Madonna shared a photo of herself and Sir John in each other's arms.
"I remembered when I was in high school- I snuck out of the house one night to see Elton perform live in Detroit! It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music," Madge recollected in the post, before going on to say that seeing that show "changed the course of my life."
"I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to stand out- to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential."
But that admiration did not seem to be a two-way street.
"The 'Rocket Man' singer, 78, began throwing shade at Madonna as early as 2002 when he bashed her James Bond theme, 'Die Another Day,' as the 'worst Bond tune ever,'" the Los Angeles Times recalled.
That's not the worst of it. The "Tiny Dancer" singer "has taken swipes at the 'Material Girl' artist's live singing abilities," the LA Times added, "and in 2012 dubbed her a 'fairground stripper.'"
"Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist," Madonna related in her post.
When she found out that John would be the "SNL" musical guest, "I decided to go," Madonna said. "I needed to go backstage and confront him ."
But when the two were face-to-face, "the first thing out of his mouth was, 'Forgive Me' and the wall between us fell down," Madge wrote.
"Forgiveness is a powerful tool," the "Like a Prayer" singer added. "Within minutes. We were hugging. Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!!"
The pop icon closed with a wink, writing: "And you can tell everybody , This is Your Song..........ππ©΅π©Άπ€".
