27 years after the 1998 dawn of "Ray of Light," Madonna is shining some fresh illumination on that classic album with the release of a remix collection.
Titled "Veronica Electronia," the album (set to drop next month) consists of "rare and unreleased remixes" from "Ray of Light," Variety detailed.
"The album arrives July 25 digitally and on silver vinyl, with 'Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit)' available now," the Variety report continued. "It is part of the singer's 2021 deal with Warner Music that saw her catalog returning to the company that released her first albums."
The eight-cut disc was originally planned for release alongside "Ray of Light," Variety noted, but "was ultimately sidelined by the original album's long string of hit singles."
"'Ray of Light' went on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide and earned Madonna four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Album," the outlet added.
The writeup offered the full track list for the album, which includes an "Original Demo Version" of "Gone, Gone, Gone," as well as the "Sasha Twilo Remix Edit" of "Ray of Light," the "Victor Calderone Future New Edit" of "Sky Fits Heaven," the "BT & Sasha Bucklodge Ashram New Edit" of "Drowned World/Substitute For Love," "Fabien's Good God Mix Edit" of "The Power Of Good-Bye," and more.
"Madonna released her last studio album to date, 'Madame X,' in 2019," Pitchfork recalled. "Since then, she's shared the remix compilation 'Finally Enough Love,' which compiled club reworks spanning much of her career."
Pitchfork also took note of renewed plans to being the material girl's life to the screen following fizzling efforts to make a biopic. The new idea is to give Madge's life and career the series treatment at streaming giant Netflix "to be helmed by Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy," Pitchfork detailed.
